Q: I’m obsessed with matte lipsticks but they’re always drying out my lips. How do I get the most of them without ending up with gross cracks?
A: Matte Lipsticks are a huge trend, one here to stay. The downside is that most matte lipsticks are drying and if your lips aren’t properly moisturised you’ll end up with unsightly cracks and chapped lips.
Here’s what you need to do to get a flawless matte lip colour.
Matte lipstick tend to emphasise the imperfections of your lips. They love to settle into the dry spots making them look unappealing. This is why exfoliating your lips before and after applying matte lipsticks is important. Give your lips a good but gentle scrub to get rid of peeling skin, in order to reveal baby soft lips.
With matte lipsticks, the best defence is prevention. Moisturise your lips before applying your lipstick. Use your favourite balm or some Aragon or Coconut oil. To make sure your lipstick doesn’t bleed, let your moisturiser soak in completely before putting your lipstick on.
3. Prime Your Lips
You can also keep your colour firmly in place by using a hydrating lip primer. It’s important to have a base for your lipstick to hang onto, and that’s the function of a primer. This will also keep the lipstick from settling in to any dry areas on your lips.
4. No Rubbing
An important rule to remember is to never rub your lips together after applying matte lipstick. Matte lipsticks don’t work the same way as sheer or liquid ones. To spread the product evenly on the lips and to apply it more precisely, use a synthetic lip brush. This will help to cover up every little corner of your lips for elegant and professional looking result.
5.Take a break
You might love your matte lippie to death but if you want to keep your lips looking and feeling healthy on the regular use your matte lipstick every other day. You can still add some colour in your life by using liquid or cream lipstick. Tinted moisturisers will also give you a nice tinge of colour on the days you decide to minimal.
