New York Fashion Week has come and gone, and left us all feeling inspired when it comes to fashion and beauty trends. While the hair and make-up wowed us, one of the most standout beauty looks were the manicures seen at the Jeremy Scott show, which were almost as innovative as the clothing. Say hello to outline, or orbit, nails – the nail trend that is going to be everywhere this summer.
Draw the line
In the case of most manicures, the colour fills the entire nail. This is where orbit nails are different, as they straddle the line between conventional manicure and nail art. Instead of coating the nail in the chosen shade, the nails are outlined, either all the way around or just at the top and tip, leaving a negative space of natural nail in the centre. And these outer lines don’t have to be limited to one colour either – you can do one shade all the way around or you can use different ones at the top and bottom. The options are numerous, and the results? *Beyond* chic.
With so many different ways that this trend can be worn, there is a take on orbit nails to suit everyone. In fact, you can forgo nail colour altogether and use nail art around the outside of your nail bed instead to give you an elevated, bougie look.
And mixing up your colour palette? That looks good too.
Orbit nails are a great way to add decoration to your manicure but still allow some of your natural nail to shine through. We’re making our next manicure appointment immediately.
