The 70th annual Cannes Film Festival got off to a glam start yesterday at the opening ceremony and premiere for Ismael’s Ghosts. It’s too soon to name the best dressed of the whole festival, but here are a few of our favourites so far:

Hailey Baldwin somehow managed to make a peplum look relevant in 2017.

French model and actress Aymeline Valade looked incredible in a turquoise tux.

Julianne Moore, who is in Cannes to support her upcoming and Cannes-nominated film Wonderstruck, was killing it in red.

Elle Fanning and Vivienne Westwood worked together to create this custom gown, featuring hand-painted details of Elle’s favourite mythical creature: a unicorn.

Moonlight star Naomie Harris dazzled in her amazing technicolour Gucci gown.

REX FEATURES

Lily-Rose Depp, spotted here in a Grecian get-up, has been spotted living it up around Cannes with her co-star in the upcoming French-Belgian drama Planetarium Natalie Portman.

REX FEATURES

Bella Hadid was definitely the best-dressed of the evening in her millennial-pink silk gown that had a dangerously high slit (there was a wardrobe malfunction but Bella showed no signs of giving a damn)

REX FEATURES

The impossibly beautiful Emily Ratajkowski also turned up in a pale pink slinky grown with a thigh-high slit, but Bella and her laughed the similarities off.

REX FEATURES

Uma Thurman, who was just named the president of the Cannes Un Certain Regard jury, also went for millennial pink.

We can only hope we look as hot as Susan Sarandon when we’re 70 😱.

…and Worst Dressed goes to Victoria Abril, who still hasn’t read the memo on cultural appropriation. Sigh.

The festival runs for another 12 days so get ready to see a whole lot more gowns.
