Dreams come true! There are lots and lots of people who want to meet Beyoncé; we’d hazard a guess that there are millions. But the friends of Ebony Banks, a senior at Alief Hastings High School in Texas, were convinced that she was a special case. Ebony is known to her friends as Ebob (cute); she’s had to miss a large part of the school year because of a stage four cancer diagnosis.

Ebony’s friend Karina Gutirrez told a local news station that she and some friends were using social media to try and get Ebony in touch with Queen Bey. “Beyoncé is one of her idols. She admires her so much, so we’re trying to put that on Twitter and Instagram to get Beyoncé’s attention,” said Gutierrez.

They created the hashtag #EBOBMEETSBEYONCE and got the Beyhive involved, and voila! Ebob got a FaceTime from the Queen herself.

Alief High School held a special graduation ceremony in March for Ebony in hospital, allowing her to graduate early. And now her friends have succeeded in making her other wish come true: to meet Beyoncé. Here’s to the power of friendship in tough times and the magic of Beyoncé!
