Will Lindsay Lohan be able to turn her career around? Judging by the recently released preview of her new film, The Canyons, it looks like Lilo might be stuck in her rut for a while longer.

The clip of Lohan’s character attempting to sneak away without being noticed is lacklustre and certainly doesn’t suggest a Hollywood comeback. The movie, in which Lohan stars alongside a porn star, was rejected by the Sundance Film Festival and many believe that this may have had something to do with Lohan herself.

In addition to being snubbed by the festival, Lohan is reported to have received a mere $100 (about R800) day for her role. Considering that she is currently in debt, this payslip must have been quite disappointing.

Because of her fading career and troubled personal life, Lohan has been compared to Marilyn Monroe several times. Most recently, Megan Fox made the comparison in an interview for the February issue of Esquire magazine. She is reported to have said, ‘I started reading about [Marilyn Monroe] and realized that her life was incredibly difficult. It’s like when you visualize something for your future. I didn’t want to visualize something so negative… She wasn’t powerful at the time. She was sort of like Lindsay, she was an actress who wasn’t reliable, who almost wasn’t insurable… She had all the potential in the world, and it was squandered.’ Fox later explained that she had not meant to criticize Lohan, but simply meant to say that the two women had similar experiences of Hollywood. Both were gifted actresses, whose natural talent was lost amid the chaos and incessant media scrutiny surrounding their lifestyles.

We really hope Lilo doesn’t follow in Marilyn’s footsteps to a  premature and tragic end.
