Kensington Palace has just announced that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is expecting a baby next Spring (autumn in South Africa). The official confirmation (which came via Instagram, naturally) noted that the couple appreciates ‘all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.’

The royal couple were seen at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday 12 October, with Meghan Markle looking striking in a long, loose-fitting coat. Rumours have since spread that the couple might be expecting. It is now confirmed, and the royal baby will be the seventh in line to the throne. Naturally the palace would have wanted to keep the pregnancy under wraps until after Princess Eugenie’s wedding was over.

According to Kensington Palace’s official Instagram: ‘Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.’

Congratulations to the royal family! We wish the Duchess a healthy pregnancy and cannot wait to meet the newest addition to this family.
