We’re sharing in the joy as our golden girl Nomzamo Mbatha has just completed her BCom Accounting degree from UCT. The local actor’s friends and family threw her a surprise party in Bantry Bay, Cape Town last Friday to celebrate this milestone. If you’re an avid watcher of Nomzamo’s Instagram stories (like we are) you may have noticed that she’s been ‘chowing course’ (as UCT peeps are known to say) while also balancing life as a major celebrity with plenty of local and international gigs.

Nomzamo’s degree celebration party was filled with a number of prominent entertainment-industry faces including Boity Thulo, DJ PH, Anatii, Carol Bouwer and even media mogul Khanyi Dhlomo, whom she honoured and thanked with this heartfelt Instagram caption:

Nomzamo was a UCT student when she auditioned for the MTV Base VJ search in 2012, which ultimately catapulted her acting career even though she placed second. But a burgeoning career didn’t stop her from successfully pushing her academic hustle as well.

Miss Mbatha revealed to Zalebs that, ‘The year 2017 was filled with so many exciting challenges and blessings, and now I start off 2018 with the greatest achievement of my life.’ Nomzamo now adds UCT BCom Accounting graduate to her awe-inspiring list of achievements, which includes being an actor, L’Oréal Paris hair ambassador, the face of Neutrogena, Puma and Audi, and a UN High Commission for Refugees ambassador.

The Isibaya actress will officially graduate from the University of Cape Town in April. Congratulations to the ‘Nubian Princess’!
