The 2018 MTV EMAs took place in Spain on Sunday and gave us some unforgettable performances from new and seasoned artists. Here’s a list of the women who killed it on stage:
The biggest winner of the night was Camila Cabello, who took home three awards (Best Artist, Best Song and Best Video for her banger ‘Havana’). The artist delivered three acceptance speeches after being nominated for six awards.
The rapper’s ‘Woman Like Me’ performance, in collaboration with Little Mix, was the perfect opening to a star-studded evening. They brought the energy right up:

The ever-iconic Janet Jackson performed her new single ‘Made For Now’ but also threw it back with her two classic hits ‘All For You’ and ‘Rhythm Nation’. In true Janet Jackson style, there was an immaculate dance sequence. The 52-year-old’s choreography was on point. She also won the Global Icon Award, and didn’t shy away from the political in her acceptance speech that called for gender equality and an end to abuse and discrimination based on religion.

This Spanish vocalist delivered a fire performance in her home country. Her sound is flamenco meets pop and she’s already a success in Spain. This is a space to watch:

The aesthetic high point of the evening was given to us by Halsey. Drenched with fake rain, in a glass box, the singer gave an evocative performance while chained up – it sounds like a lot, but you just need to watch it below. Her emotional rendition of ‘Without Me’ was spectacular from the start, but when the glass cage lifted and the rain pelted down on the singer, it was undeniably stirring. Here’s the full video:
Some other performances worth mentioning include Bebe Rexha’s ‘I’m a Mess’, during which the artist emerged from a bathtub. The EMA’s host, Hailee Steinfeld, sang ‘Back to Life’ (from the Transformers spinoff movie, Bumblebee) from a car formation made up of back-up dancers. All-round, it was a night packed with insane performances.
