If your 2017 SAMAs invitation happened to get lost in the mail this year, we’re here to give you all the deets – from who we predict will win in each of the major categories to who would walk away with the best-dressed award (if there was such an award).

The event, which takes place tonight at Sun City, will be hosted by Somizi Mhlongo and Tumi Morake.

After watching quite a few videos and asking a few people around the office, here’s who we think will walk away with the award in these categories.

Best Newcomer of the Year
Soul Kulture – Ngeliny’ilanga
Babes Wodumo  – Gqom Queen Vol 1
Sketchy Bongo – Unmasked
Nasty C – Bad Hair Extentions
Amanda Black – Amazulu

Prediction: Babes Wodumo. I mean, guys, who doesn’t know Babes or her debut track Wololo? Exactly!

Best Female Artist of the Year
Lebo Sekgobela – Restored
Babes Wodumo  – Gqom Queen Vol 1
Kelly Khumalo – My Truth
Amanda Black – Amazulu
Thandiswa – Belede

Prediction: This is a tough one but because her album is actually amazing and she won in this same category at the Metro FM Awards, we think Kelly Khumalo might just take it.

Best Album of the Year
Kwesta – Dakar II
Black Motion – Ya Badimo
Amanda Black – Amazulu
Nasty C – Bad Hair Extentions
Thandiswa – Belede

Prediction: We tried but we just couldn’t decide. This will have to be a tie between Kwesta’s Dakar II and Nasty C’s Bad Hair Extensions.

Best Dance Album
DJ Clock – The 5th Tick
Black Motion – Ya Badimo
Durbans’ Finest – Durbans’ Finest – Reloaded
Mobi Dixon – Live The Music
NaakMusiQ – Born to Entertain

Prediction: Black Motion’s Ya Badimo, obviously!

Best Collaboration Album
Black Coffee – Your Eyes
Kwesta ft DJ Bucks, Okmalumkoolkat & DJ Maphorisa – Mayibabo ft DJ Bucks, Okmalumkoolkat & DJ Maphorisa
Kwesta – Ngud’
Miss Pru – Ameni
Musa – Mthande

Prediction: At first we wanted to say Black Coffee’s Your Eyes, but then we remembered how much of a jam Ngud’ was and still is. We love us some Black Coffee but sorry everyone, Kwesta’s Ngud’ is the one for us.

We’re also eagerly awaiting our fave celebs’ fashion and beauty interpretations of the theme. While we know the below award is non-existent, if it were, here’s who we think would walk away with it:

Best dressed

While our favourite celebrities take weeks to prepare for awards nights, there are always those awkies moments (remember when Sis Rebecca and Boity rocked up wearing the same dress?), and then there are those who never get it wrong. Click here to see who made it onto our best-dressed list last year.

Winner: We can’t decide between Bonang and Nomzamo, so it’s a tie. Everyone knows that Gert-Johan Coetzee and Bonang make an incredible team so if the local designer is dressing Queen B, the other stars can just forget about it. But then again, when has Nomzamo ever not made the ‘best dressed list’ at any awards event? Never!
