It’s hard to believe that it has been 20 years since Titanic graced our screens, with the film’s anniversary falling just last week – yes, we feel old too.
It’s comforting to know, however, that the cast actually spent the anniversary together, and it turns out it was all by coincidence. Environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio held an annual gala for his foundation, The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, and a few of his former cast mates were in attendance. The gala, held in St. Tropez, saw Leo reunite with Kate Winslet and Billy Zane, with Billy uploading a hilarious photo of the three of them on Instagram.
‘Gang’s back together. Now we’re saving icebergs. Go figure…,’ Billy captioned the snap.
Titanic fans were quick to rally behind the 51-year-old actor’s joke, loving the irony that the three of them were teaming up to save the icebergs, the very things that brought them together in the first place.
A lot of people have been praising Leonardo DiCaprio in particular, with one fan posting, ‘Leonardo DiCaprio, once killed by an iceberg, now fights to stop them from melting. THAT’S putting aside your differences.’ The gala was raising money for the LDF, dedicated to the health and wellbeing of all Earth’s inhabitants, and it was attended by some pretty big names, with Uma Thurman making an appearance and Lenny Kravitz performing.
One of the main events of the evening was an auction, with one lucky bidder winning a meal with Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio at a venue of their choice in New York. We hope more than anything that Billy Zane was the highest bidder to keep the Titanic reunion going.
