Following in the footsteps of models such as Tyra Banks, Candice Swanepoel and Adriana Lima, US model Jasmine Tookes will steal the limelight at Victoria’s Secret runway show in December, where she was selected to wear the coveted Fantasy Bra.

Also known as the Bright Night Fantasy Bra, it took Jasmine – who was made a Victoria’s Secret Angel last year – three hours to fit the encrusted bra, valued at $3 million (about R13 million). Weighing over 450 carats, the California beauty says she had to be plastered for a mold to be created for the bra, which is made of almost 10 000 precious gems. ‘I almost couldn’t breathe because I’d move too much and it’d mess up the measurements,’ she says.

For Jasmine, according to the report, wearing the 2016 Fantasy Bra designed by jewellery maker Eddie Borgo ‘means everything’. ‘I’ve always looked up to some of the girls that have worn the Fantasy Bra in the past – Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum and Gisele. I remember sitting at home watching TV – all the old Victoria Secret Fashion Shows being like “One day, I have to be on that runway!” Never did I think that I would get to wear a $3 million bra.’

‘I feel like it’s such a milestone for Victoria’s Secret to have a woman of colour wearing the Fantasy Bra, because there’s only been two in the past, and the last one was almost 10 years ago,’ she says. ‘It’s major, and I think it’s awesome I get to represent that.’
