Catch a glimpse of local fashion designer and icon David Tlale’s life in a brief documentary film by Yazeed Kamaldien.
Known for his signature chicly crafted hair and stylish sunnies, the film explores David’s philosophy behind producing fashion masterpieces. Marie Claire South Africa editor Aspasia Karras is the storyteller of David’s life in the film, detailing his career path. David has been threading needles for over 11 years, always proudly showcasing the power of African design proudly on the global stage.
David says: “It’s time that the world starts recognising the talent and the ability that Africans have. In spite of all our issues and everything that is happening, it is very important for those of us who are at the forefront still lift the flag for South Africa to say we can do it.”
We even get a behind-the-scenes look at David’s fashion shows, one of them on the unfinished bridge of Cape Town, the first time a fashion show has ever taken place there. But we won’t give it all away, have a look for yourself.
