Our gorgeous cover star Duckie Thot is one of the supermodels currently redefining normative beauty standards. The 22-year-old is someone we can proudly refer to as a role model to those who have been previously under-represented. Duckie was one of the faces of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty campaign that made waves by celebrating and catering to all types of beauty. Here we showcase some of our favourite red carpet looks worn by the supermodel, that proves why she should be everyone’s fave.
1. Minimal magic
Duckie Thot was spotted at the 2017 19th Annual amfAR in New York wearing a sophisticated, simple black dress. Black is very easy to wear and style, but with a little dimension (the side plunge that creates the low-backed element of the dress), a black dress can look even more powerful.
2. The mermaid effect
Never underestimate the power of a cut-out. This feature has the same effect as the exposed waist line created by cropped tops. Cut-outs are not created for the mere purpose of showing skin, but instead to create an hour-glass shape. Duckie wore this striking dress to the 2017 BET Awards, leaving everyone in awe!
3. Alice in Wonderland
Duckie appeared at the Pirelli Calendar 2018 Launch Gala in J’Aton Couture looking like the Alice from Alice in Wonderland. The exposed boning of the dress added drama that needed no explanation. We are obsessed with the fairytale feel of this look.
4. Barbie-esque at the MTV awards
At the 2018 MTV Awards, Duckie wore a short and sweet blazer dress that unexpectedly made a statement. Celebrities at awards shows are expected to show up in dramatic ball gowns, but the simplicity of this outfit made her stand out from the crowd. The long hair and exposed legs makes this outfit even better. Now we know why she is referred to as black Barbie!
5. Great Gatsby, but 2018
Duckie gave us some major fringe action while attending the 4th Annual Diamond Ball. The sexy jumpsuit is by the amazing designer Naeem Khan, who is known as the master of embroidery and fine detailing. Its falls fit her body and embrace her height.
