For the past few weeks South African achievers have been graduating all over the country, proving to us that our young people are unstoppable and ready to conquer the world. Grad is always an amazing reason to dress up, and so we’ve rounded up 12 of our favourite looks spotted at UCT, Rhodes, WITS and UWC.
The University of Cape Town
1. Pozisa Maqondwana
We love the unpredictability of Pozisa’s three-quarter blazer, not to mention the entire ensemble. Her grad look is a modern take on the 1980’s pant suit, and the barrette, neck scarf, and metallic court heels scream drama. It’s the perfect graduation look for 2018.
2. Ahlume Monese
This young graduate is serving slayage in this season’s go-to print. We love the double breast of her suit – it adds a very girly element to an otherwise strong look.
The day I have been waiting for my whole life. I’m super thankful for the amount of love and support I received from my mother, family and friends. And I wouldn’t have achieved this if it wasn’t for the Most High. UCT you have been great! #girlswithdegrees #uctgraduate #gradbae #trailblazerinthemaking 🎓🎓🎓🎓
3. Naledi Sibisi
Short, sweet and sexy. Also Naledi was clever to pair her statement dress with clear heels, not only does it draw attention to the dress, her perspex heels elongate her legs.
4. Nicole Norman
Nicole went with monochrome. The mix-and-match of different pieces to create a formal look is refreshing, and the slit featured on her trousers is a trend to look out for.
Hello from a fresh grad 👋🏽👩🏽🎓What an incredible and indescribable feeling to finally reach this achievement 🙌🏽 Big thank you to every single person who contributed to this journey, no matter how big or small that contribution 👐🏽 Friends, family, study buddies and even the people I spoke to on the regular without knowing your names 🙆🏽♀️ I just want to say a big thank you for being apart of a uni experience that is so incredibly complex and 100% unforgettable 😅😅 I can’t put into words how happy I am to finally reach this point, and even more excited for what the future holds from here on 🙏🏽😇 Next chapter loading… DEGREE DONE ✅
5. Lolly Pukwana
The two-time UCT graduate looked stunning in this playful cropped flare-top-and-skirt combination.
University of the Western Cape
6. Tshepiso Titipana
Tshepiso served us layers of blush tones, showing that you can look both strong and powerful even in a feminine colour. Talk about making education look fashionable!
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” -Proverbs 3:5. This scripture has carried me throughout my undergrad years and I can confidently say, I am what I am because of the Grace of God. I would like to thank my family for believing in me and investing so much for my education. The undying support I received from my aunt’s, friends and colleagues has not gone unnoticed. Thanks for the prayers and intercessions which have aided me in completing my degree. I couldn’t be more happier❤🎓
7. Shazia Asalie
Shazia turned heads in the colour of the season, making us all want to own a red suit.
8. Asanda Zani
This dress is to die for, thanks to the mesh effect and the bow.
9. Akhona Zondani
The clean cut, the fit and the minimalism of this gorgeous outfit proves that jumpsuits do not need to be predictable.
10. Mandy Vil Kazz
Mandy opted for a romantic, velvet, off-the-shoulder number. This look is so dreamy and we love it!
University of the Witwatersrand
11. Emelda Randzu Ralph
Emelda celebrated her well deserved achievement and her cultural background in a beautifully made gown.
This young lady looked effortlessly chic in her white ensemble.
Congratulations to this year’s graduates!
