We can’t get enough of South African Brand Erre. Pronounced ‘air’, Carina Louw and Natasha Jaume aren’t new to our burgeoning fashion scene and showcased their fall/winter 2017 collection at South African fashion week last year. According to the designer duo, ‘the Erre journey started with our mutual desire to develop a brand that caters for woman looking for quality wardrobe staples and investment pieces that can to be worn both on and off duty.’
The darkly sophisticated brand is known for breathing new life into power dressing and can teach us a lot about style. Wise and elegantly accustomed to the finer aspects of dressing in monochrome, we’ve gleaned a few important tips based off of Erre’s sophisticated fall collection.
Tip 1: Pay attention to the details
Seen here is Erre’s beautiful A/W 2015 leather jacket. Crocodiles and African scarification come together to create a magnificent piece. It’s the intricately crafted parts that make this a statement item.
Tip 2: Focus on fabric
Black and white are equally flattering and Erre shows us how to switch things up by using different fabrics. Leather is great to add texture and keeps your head-to-toe black outfit from looking lackluster. Another tip is to add black woollen accessories for more texture and warmth.
Tip 3: Black = feminine
Black can be pretty. It doesn’t have to mean dull or tough. Erre shows us how to be sweetly feminine in the colour, using soft silhouettes and fabrics like tulle.
Tip 4: Make things exciting
When working solely with black, embellishments go a long way. Use accessories to help you stand out. Gold and black are fast friends and easily complement one another. Incorporate big, gold bracelets and golden earrings to create a more striking look.
Tip 5: Wear white right
When going for white separates make sure they’re the same shade. Cream is not chalk white.
Tip 6: Volume
Belts aren’t only there to hold your pants up. They can be used to create volume and draw attention to your waist.
Tip 7: Black and white
Black stockings with a white garment is styling gold. This game-changing styling trick is not only slimming on your legs but also makes you look longer with your matching black heels.
