Paris Fashion Week has come to an end, and brought with it a little confusion over what we should be slipping our feet into for the upcoming season. There are ridiculous boots, re-imagined sneakers and a shoe we never thought we’d see on the runway (here’s looking at you Demna Gvasalia, and your platform Crocs). However, we’re fully aware that fashion week is supposed to be that extra, and we love it either way. From weird to wonderful, here are the shoe trends from the Paris Spring Summer ’18 runway…

Boots are not just boots anymore. We’re talking fully feathered or puffer inspired. You know what they say, these boots were made for…talking?

There’s something about a good chunky sandal that really gets us going. They’re great for stomping around in, with a not-so-subtle nod to the 90’s Spice Girl sneaker. But perhaps the Balenciaga version is taking it a little far?

Feather and fringe detailing, seen on the best street stylers at PFW, was also spotted on the runway shoes.

Varying shapes of mesh were used on shoes, from flat boots to chunky heels, providing levels of cool, both in style and temperature.

Because covering your delicate shoe in a sheer layer provides an unexpected twist. From plastic acetate to fine gauze, it was over the top brilliance.

Not dissimilar to the chunky sandal, knotted rope detailing provides the right amount of edge to a dainty shoe. Or helps fashion the perfect beach sandal.

The next trend takes inspiration from the Wild West, looking to cowboy boots and huge silver buckles. Yee-haw?!

Because the fight to put out the strangest sneaker is still on-going, this year’s influences include a boxing boot, Elf shoe and those strange waterproof second-skin feet things.

It’s not the early 2000s coming to haunt you. Animal skin (we’re hoping of the faux kind) is back in business.
