The Marie Claire Power Survey is open and we want to hear from you!
A 2017 report by Human Rights Watch states that in South Africa, ‘violence against women, including rape and domestic violence, remain widespread and underreported.’ Women live in fear of being attacked by a stranger, or hurt by a partner or husband. One in five women older than 18 has experienced physical violence, and three women die at the hands of their partner every day, according to The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation, and Oxfam South Africa.
In addition, South Africa is ranked 19th in a new global index report on gender inequality released by the World Economic Forum (WEF). While South Africa has a larger number of women legislators, senior officials and managers, the gender wage gap in the country has increased.
Around the world, women are campaigning for change in their countries. Today, we want to know how WE can lead the charge for change in South Africa, and not just ask for it. There is no better time than now. Our Power Survey is the start of a bigger movement – we want to hear from you so that together, we can make a difference for women. Take our survey, and you could win R2500 cash.
