Everyone wants to meet at least two or three of their favourite trailblazers at some point in their lives, but no one ever imagines that they’ll meet them all at the same time. Well imagine no more, because the inaugural In Good Company Experience Summit will make that a reality on 28 August 2018. This is an innovative and inclusive women empowerment programme powered by DStv and headlined by Hollywood’s most relevant actor, writer and producer, Issa Rae.

Meet all your favourite stars at the In Good Company Experience Summit

Widely quoted for saying ‘I’m rooting for everybody black’ on the Emmys red carpet, and as someone who celebrates the connectivity of the black-girl society, Issa Rae makes sense as one of the phenomenal speakers making up the panel. She’s passionate about gender diversity and inclusivity, as well as committed to building Africa.

The three women will share their stories as well as their views on ‘Building the Africa of Tomorrow’, which is the summit’s theme.

Jabulile Gwala, the founder of In Good Company, is of the valid opinion that ‘achieving gender diversity is imperative for all of us. It’s not just an issue to be solved and championed by women. It affects us all, hence we found it important for us to create a space where both women and men can get together and start ideating for solutions to change the current status quo. We live in a mixed-gender society and therefore the conversation cannot happen with women alone.’

Who will be there?

This is why the IGC Experience Summit will feature leading women and men from an array of industries, including the arts, media, film and entertainment, technology and digital insights, as well as property management. Because this experience is the gift that keeps on giving, guest will not only hear from speakers from Google Africa, Pernod Ricard South Africa, DCI Holdings and Daku Group of Companies, but also from Mzansi’s most celebrated entertainment stars. Alongside Issa Rae will be Thandiswa Mazwai, one of the most influential South African musicians of this generation, and South Africa’s silver-screen sweetheart Enhle Mbali Maphumulo.

But what’s a summit without Nomzamo Mbatha?

Yes, you guessed right, this talented international South African star will be MCing the IGC Experience and we have no doubt that she’ll do so with an unmatched level of grace and finesse as she did at the Marie Claire Image Makers Awards ceremony and Marie Claire’s first ever Power Summit progressed by Audi.

Oh, but that’s not all…

South Africa’s first princess of pop, music veteran and humanitarian Yvonne Chaka Chaka will be honoured with an award recognising her remarkable contribution to building Africa. This will be her second honorary accolade this year after being conferred an honorary doctorate by Rhodes University. In 2017, the Princess of Africa was honoured at the BET Awards. Yvonne Chaka Chaka is a champion for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, the United Nations MDG Envoy for Africa, and the Goodwill Ambassador for the Roll Back Malaria Partnership.

Dr Yvonne Chaka Chaka has also established her own charity, the Princess of Africa Foundation, using the name first given to her in Uganda. The Princess of Africa Foundation is a partner of the ACTION global health advocacy partnership. In 2012, she was the first African woman to receive the WEF’s Crystal Award.

We’re holding thumbs for a performance by the iconic singer, but what we do know for sure is that multi-talented singer, songwriter, TV and radio personality Unathi Nkayi will grace the stage to deliver another one of her soulful performances. As if that’s not enough, to offer a full experience, delegates will also get the opportunity to engage with each other during the experiential sessions on hair management from hair experts and having a touch-up of their make-up while tasting theme-based cocktails. We think the Insecure leading lady might have had something to do with this one.
