Few stars have a career as impressive and inspiring as Julia Roberts’. In an industry defined by change and often novelty, Julia has stood the test of time with a career spanning 30 years. Julia is Marie Claire‘s cover star for June and she talks candidly about beauty, ageing and how she defines her femininity. Recently she took on the part of an adventurer in Africa – with Bear Grylls of all people! No stunt-doubles for Ms Roberts as she braves an adventure like no other, and all for a very good cause.

Bear Grylls is known for his wild adventures; and honestly, that man sometimes does things that we can only conjure up in our wildest nightmares. But Julia tagged along with Bear for the adventure of a lifetime in Kenya for an episode of his show Running Wild With Bear Grylls. She decided to get involved with NBC’s Red Nose Day, to help make an impact in the lives of children. Julia and Bear brave the Kenyan landscape to help deliver vaccines to children in need of medical attention. And by the looks of it, it sure wasn’t easy. Their journey gives us a real sense of just how difficult it is to get medication to remote areas.

‘We’ve come to a bridge; which crosses a river filled with crocs,’ she says in the episode, ‘the river must be crossed in order to get our vaccines where they need to go.’ We were on the edge of our seats as Julia took her first step on the hemp rope. She was braver than most of us, as the mirky waters below stirred with the movement of the large reptilians. The episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls aired on NBC this May.

We’ve always been obsessed with Julia, but after this episode, we can’t help falling in love with her all over again!
