This weekend our timelines were full of people celebrating their graduation, and looking incredible while doing so. UCT graduates caught up with Rhodes, Stellenbosch and WITS whose ceremonies were in April and March.
Graduation is especially significant in South Africa; some women are the first in their family to attend a tertiary institute, and many overcome great financial and societal obstacles to achieve their degrees. Studying in the time of #FeesMustFall has challenged students who’ve had to juggle activism and disruptions while trying to complete their degrees, graduation 2017 is really significant. We took a moment to appreciate the most beautiful outfits that graduates wore to celebrate their victories.
Gone are the days of wearing a chic little black dress underneath your hired gown, this year we saw young women going all out to collect their degrees.
