Astronaut Peggy Whitson has just spent nine and a half months in space. She left Earth a few days after Donald Trump was elected US President. On Saturday night in Kazakhstan, she arrived back on this planet.
According to Jezebel, at 57 years old, Peggy Whitson has broken numerous records with her total of 665 days in space. This is more time in space than ‘any woman and any American astronaut’. She is also the oldest female astronaut.
The research conducted by Peggy and her team looks at the ‘effects of microgravity on human eyes and stem cells’. They are also investigating how to ‘increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy drugs for cancer treatment’ and ‘plant physiology and growth in space using an advanced plant habitat’.
Peggy wrote the following as she reflected on her remarkable journey: ‘I will miss seeing the enchantingly peaceful limb of our Earth from this vantage point. Until the end of my days, my eyes will search the horizon to see that curve.’

Peggy has been living her best life and doing the important things out there in space. We hope that soon it will be possible for us all to move there, should bigoted white men continue ruling the world.
