Yoni eggs have been around since long (long) before the 50 Shades Of Grey franchise introduced us to Kegel balls. Kegel balls are inserted into the vagina and you carry them around, strengthening your pelvic-floor muscles (and producing a pleasant sensation at the same time). Yoni eggs are basically the ancient version of Kegel balls, and we are obviously intrigued.
Yoni eggs, also known as jade eggs, are oval-shaped balls that come in a variety of sizes to cater for all women, and are made from various precious stones. They originated in China, where they have been used for thousands of years by woman pre- and post-birth to strengthen muscles, restore harmony, increase sexual sensitivity and more. They are inserted in the vagina and the wearer must hold them in place using Kegel exercises. Daily use of them not only has great physical benefits, but also psychological advantages. Yoni eggs encourage women to feel more comfortable with their vaginas, and start viewing them as the amazing organs that they are. Fully embracing women sensuality sounds good to us!
How do you use them exactly? This holistic healer’s advice explains:
‘Simple Kegel exercises are the foundation of the yoni-egg practice. Doing Kegel exercises is already great. Doing them with a yoni egg is equivalent to doing curls with a dumbbell as opposed to just flexing the bicep muscles.
‘The great thing is that although doing Kegel and other pelvic-floor exercises will enhance your experience with the yoni egg, you can reap the benefits simply by wearing it. The egg is working its magic regardless. In fact, if you have never done Kegel exercises before it is best to ease into the practice and start your routine by just wearing your yoni egg for the first two weeks. Sleeping with the egg is another way to start.
‘The yoni egg can enhance the effects of your favourite practices and activities. Once you feel confident in your ability to hold the egg, you can attend yoga, qigong or Pilates with it, or even go on a hike. The egg will engage the muscles that would usually stay dormant during these activities, and can result in some interesting new sensations and awareness.’
Sounds do-able, and the benefits are apparently amazing:
What’s all the hype about yoni eggs? 👀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is estimated that women have been practicing with crystal eggs for over 5,000 years. Besides •tightening the vaginal walls, •awakening the tissues, organs, and muscles, •promoting new nerve growth, •increasing sensitivity, •reversing prolapse & incontinence, •easing pms, •shortening menses, and •easing childbirth (whew that’s a LOT!) these little treasures are a major key in cultivating and holding in vital life force energy (also has called Chi, Ka, Qi, or Prana energy). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sexual energy is LITERALLY the energy of creation. The basis of our creativity 🙌🏿 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀. The pelvic floor is a large group of muscles that form a “basket” which supports all of our internal organs. In eastern practices like Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, and belly dancing, there is a big emphasis put on pelvic floor exercises. It is said that life force, prana, or chi can leak through the pelvic floor and be lost if those muscles are weak. This life force energy is essentialfor maintaining high energy levels and longevity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the modern world we sit still for long periods of time, and most of us almost never engage the pelvic floor muscles. This leads to reproductive health problems, painful menses, loss of sensitivity/sensation, and overall low energy levels. In fact, the main culprit of reproductive illness is lack of blood flow to this area of the body. Plus, most of us are in our heads 24/7, and are largely disconnected from our bodies…especially the parts below the belt.
