If diamonds are a girl’s best friend then they’re clearly the jealous, frenemy type of best friend who tries to sabotage your marriage.
According to research from the Emory University in the US, men who spend more than two thousand dollars on a whopper of a ring are 1.3 times more likely to divorce than men who spent less on a more modest one. The study also found that women who had lavish weddings costing 20,000 dollars or more were 3.5 times more likely to divorce.
Other factors that supposedly lead to divorce are a wider gap in age or education, and caring too much about your partner’s looks.
