While celebs and models were sashaying around the south of France this weekend for the annual Cannes Film Festival, stars of the small screen and fans of the drag scene gathered in LA for RuPaul’s DragCon. As was to be expected, the queens brought their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent as well as their A-game when it came to their beauty looks. And with that, here are 10 of our favourites.
1. Dahlia Sin
If Dahlia was out to prove that you can look as though you were born with blue hair, she succeeded. Same goes for the glitter.
2. Asia O’Hara
Looking like she owns the Nile was Asia, who was giving us Egyptian realness with very dramatic winged liner and eyeshadow.
Aja brought us a modern take on a very glamorous sad clown, and we are loving everything from the orange wig to the diamanté tears.
Aquaria is a fashion-forward queen who clearly knows that geometric make-up and bold liner are in this season. Shante, you can stay.
5. Vanessa Vanjie Mateo
Spring was in the air, or rather in Vanessa’s hair, at DragCon, as she topped her tresses with some dainty flowers, which softened her fierce look.
6. Tokyo Stylez
Instead of kitsch or glamour, Tokyo opted to go with the Goth look, and it really stood out in the sea of bold colours – for all the right reasons.
7. Kennedy Davenport
All that glitters IS gold when it comes to Kennedy’s make-up. From her eyes to her lips, she knows how to shine in more ways than one.
8. Kimora Blac
You could only see Kimora’s eyes through her Middle Eastern-inspired beaded veil, but with lashes like that, you don’t need anything else.
9. Violet Chachki
Why braid your hair the conventional way when you can use your locks to create an attention-grabbing updo à la Violet?
10. Sasha Velour
Season 9 winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Sasha proves that you don’t need hair to wear a fierce (or feral) headpiece.
