In lieu of the Miss Earth 2018 international pageant on 3 November, Miss Earth South Africa – Margo Fargo – is currently in the Philippines where the event will take place. While there, Margot’s been representing local fashion, inspiring eco-friendly fashion and beauty choices and joining environmental seminars with fellow Miss Earths.

In preparation for the Grand Coronation Night, we break down five things to know about this inspiring 26-year-old.

1. She’s proud of her roots

Margo was born in Bloemfontein and is a strong believer in acknowledging your roots. Her Instagram regularly references her dream to represent SA in captions like, ‘I am motivated by making my younger self proud to challenge myself and realise where I come from, being thankful and where I am going.’

Margot says, ‘Having grown up in a developing community, with difficult circumstances, my life is a true testimony of what one can achieve with the correct mindset and when always challenging yourself to become a better version of yourself.’

2. She’s an advocate of the Miss Earth SA #WasteStopsWithMe campaign

The campaign focuses on awareness of the waste issues we face and ‘the responsibility we have towards looking after our environment’.

3. She has a BSC honours degree in Consumer Sciences in Sustainability

Margo graduated with honours in BSC Consumer Sciences in Sustainability at the University of the Free State last June.

4. This is not her first rodeo

Margo has taken part in the Miss Free State, Miss Mamelodi Sundowns and the Miss SA pageants.
