‘I can’t believe we made it,’ sings Beyoncé in Apesh*t, a song about asserting and her power. The music video for the song was shot in the iconic Louvre Museum, in Paris France. Because when you’re Beyoncé, you shoot your music video at a museum famous for explicit art works documenting accumulated cultural power, wealth and colonialism. And in the process you recontextualise classical western art.

So, what does Bonang ‘Your Girl B’ Matheba do when she’s in town for New York Fashion Week? She channels her fellow Queen B’s iconic Apesh*t video at the Louvre. And it’s giving us equal amounts of life and FOMO simultaneously.

Our golden girl is currently in the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week, along with fellow Courvoisier ambassadors designer David Tlale and muso Anatii.

After visiting the Met Museum, Bonang managed to squeeze in a helicopter ride over New York with her favourite cousin, Tebogo Mekgwe (who she fondly refers to as ‘Pinky Girl’). We have some thoughts on the details: 1) travel goals, 2) that dress 3) Bonang.

From here, on out, expect: lavish, royal, etc. etc.

Sigh, I’m waiting impatiently for the time when I have my life together with enough money in the bank and enough time to recreate Beyoncé’s iconic looks.

Until then, I’ll settle for living vicariously through Bonang.
