Today, in powerful women supporting other powerful women, former public protector, advocate and professor of law Thuli Madonsela showed that she’s a fan of actress and humanitarian Nomzamo Mbatha, who is a fan of her, and frankly, we’re a fan of that.

This is how it happened:

The Nomzamo rose

This week, the actress, human rights activist and UNHCR ambassador, added another accolade to her list of achievements, in the form of a rose named after her.

The famed Ludwig’s Rose Farm coined the ‘Nomzamo rose’ after the star, in honour of her humanitarian pursuits. This was in conjunction with roses named after Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Walter and Albertina Sisulu.

Nomzamo shared the news on Twitter saying, ‘Thank you Ludwig Roses for this profound recognition💕’

The peach roses are fittingly beautiful and unique, just like Nomzamo, and follow the floral crown she wore at the Rich Factory show this Joburg Fashion Week. Call it déjà vu?

Nomzamo received many congratulations, but the one that stood out most to us was that of Thuli Madonsela, calling the award ‘A well deserved accolade’.

Nomzamo, like all of us would’ve, immediately returned the compliment saying: ‘You have my love and utmost respect ❤️’.

We are here for women supporting other women! And the exchange got us fantasising about what it would be like to sit in on that lunch time conversation (because yes, in our minds, Thuli and Nomzamo do lunch dates and talk about changing the world together every Monday at 2pm).
