We love a bit of tennis, especially with strawberries and cream. And if we can check out which of the attendees were scoring high in the fashion department at the same time, that’s even better. In true British style, it’s a rather posh affair with floral dresses and the odd hat (not obtrusive of course, we’re here to watch a game). It also must be noted that Dame Anna Wintour is a huge Wimbledon fan, and has so far been to quite a few matches. We have no doubt that her presence probably adds to the pressure on the court because if she wasn’t judging you before on your fashion taste, she might just be analysing your opening serve.

Attendees always include the royal family of course, with the Middleton sisters making a few elegant appearances. There were also the well known and loved British celebs and sports stars, and also the ever-supportive wives and husbands of the tennis players.

The choice of dress is always dictated by the nature of the championship; i.e. formal, and for those of us who love a bit of fancy dress, this is no problem. (It’s also common but certainly not required to have a handsome boo on your arm, with them in a dapper suit.) Think lots of lace, modestly below the knee dresses and jewels for off the court. This is certainly not seen on the court.

However, the tennis stars certainly don’t neglect their appearance. Venus Williams and Garbine Muguruza both sported all white looks (which is, of course, the mandatory dress colour) but with a twist of pleats and a flared skirt.

As the championship draws to a close with the finals on Sunday 16th, we suss out the style seen on the court.
