The red-carpet looks and best-dressed talk at any awards show is always something we look forward to – the burst of colours, the design details and the level of extravagance. This year the Golden Globe Awards red carpet was momentous, as the majority of celebrities attending opted out of wearing bold colours and OTT designs, wearing black instead in support of the #TimesUp campaign against sexual harassment within and beyond the industry.
We paid more attention to the details that we would have probably overlooked if all we saw was colour, which was refreshing. We tried really hard to select 10 only (but how!?), here’s our top 12 instead… in a very particular order.
12. Halle Berry
The lace detail is impeccable on this Zuhair Murad dress that fits her so incredibly well – I mean, look at her!
11. Millie Bobby Brown
So young and so stylish – very far removed from her ‘Stranger Things’ character, Millie looks really modern in this custom Calvin Klein dress that not many people saw the back of. The heavily encrusted kitten heels are also a win.
10. Kendall Jenner
We never thought she would be a contender, but when you’re walking the red carpet in a Giambattista Valli gown, you’re bound to be remembered.
9. Dakota Johnson
Another party in the back compliments of Gucci pre-fall 2018 this time. We loved the surprise element of the embellishment (we never saw it coming looking at the front), and also the fact that she wore an un-fussed tousled low pony and bangs.
8. Kate Hudson
We really do love Kate with a pixie crop, but that’s not all we loved about her look – this sheer Valentino fall 2017 couture number was elegantly tasteful and flattering.
7. Mary J. Blige
What a bombshell! Fits like a glove with just the right amount of Chopard bling.
6. Jessica Biel
The recent Marie Claire cover star looked flawless in this Christian Dior spring 2017 couture gown. The layering of the two-toned tulle made the look really subtle, toning down the black.
5. Diane Kruger
… can do no wrong. Simply elegant in Prada
4. Margot Robbie
Another winning embellishment moment by Gucci. The cut is everything.
3. Kerry Washington
The epitomy of cool meets couture – this Prabal Gurung pre-fall 2018 number wouldn’t have been complete without those boots – love it! LOVE her!
2. Tracee Ellis Ross
The turban, the twisted bow halter neckline, those drop earrings, the pop of red and the classic courts – Tracee has hit another home run in sophisticated and super-stylish Marc Jacobs.
1. Zoe Kravitz
Now, this is what we call a winner. The completely stripped-back look allowed her to wear this Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello strapless dress and not the other way around. Her transition back to dark hair works so well and because of the un-fussed silhouette of the dress, we’re forced to admire the emerald drop earrings that pop perfectly against her red lip, also, how great are her tattoos? Gosh, she’s gorgeous!
