AFI Fashion Week Johannesburg displayed an abundance of print and colour on the runways, as we mentioned in our report back. It seems it didn’t stop there, with attendees walking to the same tune before the shows. We took a moment to capture what seemed to be the most consistent display from six street-stylers who all had one thing in common: a love for print!

Doubling up

Nozipho Mashaba’s fabulous braids and confidence weren’t the only things that caught our eye. We couldn’t help but notice her bold choice of a head-turning, head-to-toe graphic print.

Animal instincts

Laura Windvogel explored the great outdoors with a mashup of Marianne Fassler’s parrot appliqué and cropped camo pants, complete with platform sneakers. We also love the banana socks!

Peek-a-polkadot

Fifi Mathambo embraced the trending polka-dot look with a blouse paired with figure-hugging dungarees. We love the addition of the paisley scarf and PVC heels!

Express yourself

Hortense Assaga has one bubbly personality and an eccentric love for fashion. It shows through her pairing of this traditional wax print dress, primary-colour sneakers and oversized spectacles.

Fresh off the runway

More like before the runway! Sibella Weber gave us a bit of a sneak peek into what we’d see on the Marianne Fassler runway just after this shot was taken (even though we had no idea) by wearing look 9 from Fassler’s show – a striped, sequinned mini dress. Weber paired it with Balenciaga sneakers and the ensemble seemed like it was made for each other.

Modern tradition

Unarine Sinwamali stood out from the crowd in a mixed Shweshwe print top with a beaded neckline and continued the flow of modern tradition through to her make-up done by Elinah Mangena.
