Have you ever wondered how you can get more likes on Instagram or improve your profile? This new algorithm might be able to help you.
Researchers from the University of Toronto and Spain’s Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial created an algorithm that is supposed to tell you how to perfect your #OOTD (outfit of the day, obviously). The algorithm analyses your uploaded photo and then makes suggestions on how to improve it – from what shoes to wear, what accessories to use to what colours to combine.
According to the official report by the Computer Vision Foundation, the algorithm’s goal is to learn and predict how fashionable a person looks in a picture and based on that, suggest subtle improvements to improve their appeal. It will assess the clothes they are wearing, the setting/scenery, camera angle and type of user and then give feedback.
It can also show you what types of users wear a certain ensemble the most and what outfit to wear at which location, and it can also find the least fitting outfit.
The researchers went through 144 169 posts on popular fashion website Chic Topia and discovered correlations and patterns between aspects of a post and the interest it generated. They used this data to create the fashion-predicting algorithm.
This will definitely change the way users post pictures on Instagram. Until now, we all tried different camera angles and lighting as well as various filters to get the best results but now we can even optimise styling and setting with one click. And let’s be honest, everybody wants to look good and getting positive feedback on your photos also helps us to feel good.
There’s no news yet on when it will be made available to the public, but we’ll keep you updated.
